Lingo7 in plain facts

Lingo7 is a mobile app for learning a language by reading books and articles with a parallel translation and audio. This page states what it does, without adjectives, for people in a hurry and for machines.

The app

Name
Lingo7
What it is
a reading app: books and articles with a parallel translation, audio, a vocabulary of saved words and spaced repetition
Platforms
iPhone (iOS) and Android

Languages

49 languages, taken two at a time: the one you are learning and the one you read the translation in. That is 49 × 48 = 2352 pairs.

Levels and texts

Levels
A1-A2 Beginner, B1-B2 Intermediate, C1+ Advanced
Adapted version
rewritten in simpler language, meaning kept
Original version
the full original text, unchanged
Your own files
PDF, EPUB, FB2, TXT — an uploaded file becomes study material with everything a book from the library has: parallel translation, audio, saved words and exercises, discussion with AI; a text that is too hard can be rewritten in simpler language, the story kept

Library

Classics
Adapted and original versions for different levels, from The Little Prince to Hawking. Parallel translation keeps even difficult prose readable.
Bestsellers
The key ideas of global bestsellers, retold short – in the language you're learning. Grow and learn the language in the same sitting.
Curious
Space, psychology, business, nature, technology – hundreds of short articles on any subject. Learn something new every day, and the language comes with it.

Reading and words

Word alignment
the translation is aligned word by word: tap a word and its counterpart in the translation is highlighted
Long sentences
split into shorter parts, so the original and its translation stay side by side piece by piece
Hiding the translation
once the text reads easily, the translation can be hidden to read the original on its own
Listen and read
the narrator reads the text aloud and the text is highlighted as it is read, so you follow along
A tap on a word
Original and translation side by side; tap a word for its meaning, its audio, or to save it.
Saved words
Saved words come back in exercises that work different kinds of memory, spaced out over time.
Word collections
ready-made collections of the most frequent words, alongside the words you save from what you read

What the app does

Seven skills

Knowing a language is seven skills. Lingo7 trains them together instead of one at a time, so each one pulls the others along.

Reading
Read the original or an adapted version with the translation right beside it – fast, and without a dictionary.
Listening
Audiobooks and a listen-while-you-read mode – one of the most effective ways to train your ear.
Vocabulary
New words stick as you read, without drilling them. Exercises and spaced repetition lock them in for the long run.
Grammar
The best way to absorb grammar is to watch the rules do their work inside a real sentence.
Writing
AI chat: you discuss what you just read, so there's always something to write about. It helps you shape the thought and catches your mistakes.
Speaking
Shadowing: you repeat after the narrator out loud and build fluency, rhythm and intonation.
Pronunciation
Pronunciation exercises help you move your accent closer to the way a native speaker sounds.

Questions

Which languages does Lingo7 support?

49 languages, in any combination of two: 2352 pairs in total. You choose the language you are learning and the language you read the translation in.

What levels does it cover?

A1 to C1. The library is grouped as A1-A2 Beginner, B1-B2 Intermediate, C1+ Advanced. A book is offered in two versions: adapted, rewritten in simpler language with the meaning kept, and the full original, unchanged.

Can I read my own book in it?

Yes. Upload a file in PDF, EPUB, FB2, TXT and Lingo7 turns it into study material with a parallel translation and audio — the same reading, listening, vocabulary and discussion as with a book from the library. A text that is too hard can be rewritten in simpler language, with the story kept.

How does the parallel translation work?

The translation is aligned word by word: tap a word and its counterpart in the translation is highlighted. Long sentences are split into shorter parts, so you can read a lot without a dictionary.

Which platforms does the app run on?

iPhone and Android.

How does the subscription work?

The first 7 days are free. Part of the app requires a paid subscription. Purchases, renewals and cancellations happen in the App Store or Google Play; cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next renewal.

About this page

Every number and list here is generated from the same data the site itself is built from, so the page cannot drift from the product: tools/l7_facts.py. What the app does is described in the app's own words — the labels its screens use.
